FYI: All training for the weekend Jan. 3 and 4 has been cancelled. The latest weather is showing temperatures that are too cold. STORM page has been updated.
12.17.2008
from Pat:
Although it’s on the STORM page, it goes without saying, training is canceled this weekend. Stay warm!!
12.12.2008
training canceled due to inclement weather and the general unpleasantness of zero degree weather.
12.7.2008
*** update. Training tomorrow (Sunday) is canceled. Sorry for the confusion. Turns out everyone has a busy day planned. We are definately shooting for next weekend (the 14th), before we will probably have to beg off for the holidays
Training this Sunday will be at Homestead Park. I’ll have more information in a day or so about specifics and time.
Welcome back to the page, all. Because we know some of you were having troubles getting into the secured pages… we will try this unsecured.
11.07.2008
This weekend, training will not be on a Sunday. It is moved up to Saturday (11.8.2008). We are meeting at 10 am up at the Corn Maze north of town. Head over to the ‘events’ tab for details.
10.02.2008
Training is set for the office park at I-25 and Arapahoe, Greenwood Plaza Blvd. I’ve heard from Susan Lynch, Demelza and Kevin, so please let me know if this is incorrect on whether or not you will be there. If these are our numbers for Sunday, I’ll delay the plan to eval the teams and we’ll carry on with a normal training day. Start time is 9:30.
We’re coming off a low of 45 and it’s staying in the 60’s. We may stagger start times as I will begin the process of “testing” your team but only have time for 2 teams this Sunday…..still have the female puppy at home. Otherwise, normal training will go on at the same time.
Criterial will be:
How well you turn over the agenda to your dog at “find.”
How well you work as a tracking team.
How you handle your dog if a situation occurs either at a turn or distraction, with known and unknown location of track layer.
This is the first day in a long time, with cool enough temperatures to begin the search of “where you are with your dog.” Please allow time to debrief. Remember, this is criteria designed to help and not a test. If we have learned anything, it should be that not all things are written in stone. The dogs know their job – don’t loose sight of their natural abilities. Also, time allowing for you, bring me your written description of a good handler. I’ll schedule all teams before October is over.

08.12.2008
South Division will meet at Addenbrook Park, 8:30 AM.
I’ll be at a horse show on Saturday the 16th but will track with the South Division on Sunday. Because we’ve missed so much time this summer, let’s take advantage of the better weather this coming weekend.
08.05.2008
All Divisions will be training this weekend – all start times are 8:30.
South: Need your vote on location….. (details to follow > stay tuned!)
07.19.2008
update: training is canceled this Sunday due to a number of factors. Low participation, snakes, 100 degree forecast, and general apathy. These truly are the ‘dog days of summer’. See you all soon.
07.17.2008
training this Sunday. Sorry for the delay, we always shoot for a Wednesday publish date… but Pat’s PC went down. Please see Demelza’s email as follows verbatim:
Hi everyone! Pat’s computer took a dump and is dead. She should be back online in a few days, she says to please call her if you have any issues or questions.Sunday – it’s going to be HOT. I would like to meet up early and get out if anyone is interested. I’m thinking the park on the south side of the street from Dakota Ridge. Pic attached. It’s on a ridge and lots of fields and open space and a weird breeze is always going through there.Let me know who’s up for it!** for the record, Rufus and I are up for it. Has anyone laid a track? Keep me posted, and I will post it here.
07.11.2008
Ok, this weekend is off for training. Per Pat’s notes below, we are moving to an every other weekend meet. This Sunday is the first one off… so our next training
will be on Sunday July 20th. I’ll have those details up late next week.
07.09.2008
from Pat:
07.05.2008
Got word from Pat today, we are a green light to for Clement Park 8 am. I have no others details than that. Hope to see you in the morning.
07.03.2008
Ok, it appears that we are tentatively planning this Sunday for Clement Park at 8 am. As always, details to follow here if anything changes.
06.26.2008
Training is an open discussion this week. Word as follows from Pat:
I see the high temp for Sunday has been reduced. If you would like an early tracking session, please let me know. Also need your vote on a location. If you want the day off, that’s okay too……
I was thinking Platte park behind Aspen Grove, but it’ll be packed this weekend. What about Writers Vista Park? http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=writers+vista+park,+littleton,+CO&ie=UTF8&ll=39.571888,-105.010629&spn=0.019584,0.033689&t=h&z=15
06.18.2008
Ok, training for this Sunday is tentatively canceled. If you would like to set something up with your peers, of course that is encouraged. However, it appears Pat will not be available. Frankly, this is a sign we should all sleep in and then take a nice bike ride on Sunday. Not together of course.
If anything changes, as always, I will update y’all.
06.13.2008
OK, there are a couple of training sessions set up for Sunday morning. One is area 51, and the other is Willow Creek. I know that ‘Area 51′ is a long track, and Pat only has two openings for it. I don’t have any other details on this weekend, yet. please feel free to drop her a line or talk at the parade this Saturday (tomorrow!). I’ll try and get more info as well, and post it here some time tomorrow.
06.04.2008
Training for this Sunday, June 8th, will be at Dakota Ridge high school. Since we have all been there a few times, I won’t post a map. In fact, there is probably one at the bottom here if you scroll down. Pat says we are starting at 8:30. We will be working a 3 day old track, and a split track.
Please bring LOTS of water. it is getting hotter earlier. Also, as many have mentioned, folks are bringing ‘Smart Water’ for the hounds as well. As always, check back here for updates. Bar any major changes, this post won’t be updated. If it is, I will also notate it on the front page.

details on this weekend’s South sunday tracking, straight from Pat:
Here’s more info on Sunday’s training at Willow Creek with a spin.
1. Track is set and will be 3 days old
2. Time distance is 30-40 minutes
3. Map will be provided, or you can have a spotter with a map.
4. Here’s the spin: You have one hour to complete the track. If you are not successful, back track home – no phone assistance unless, of course, there’s an emergency of some kind.
5. If you prefer a new track – that will be on Cleo and I who will head out at 8:30.
6. If you want, and with the heat, it will probably be the best idea to arrive and take off at 20 minute intervals. That will prevent a lot of time spent standing around, unless you want to do some short tracks while you wait.
Let me know your preference and if you will be there. This one will take some coordination. See you there!! Plan on debriefing, please.
Willow Creek is at 8091 E. Phillips Cr., Centennial. It’s off County Line and Quebec – Phillips is just north of that intersection.

from Pat:
Please let me know if you can track on Sunday – should be another 8:30 start time as it will be 78. Coronado Elementary is the tentative location. stogner.patricia@comcast.net

Stone House Park, Lakewood – 2900 S Estes St
between Wadsworth and Kipling, near Hampden on the south, the east-west street is Yale. the Stone House is a historic site and sits just on the north side of the parking lot, which is on Estes. Once you turn south on Estes, you can’t miss the parking lot – it’s south just a couple 100 yards and the little stone house sits where you can see it. Nice size lot…..
8:30 AM (hitting the 80’s on Sunday).
auto updated weather link here.

training for this Sunday 05.04.2008
weather update 04.30.2008 (Wednesday night)
The weather channel just proved me wrong. Sunday now looks to be sunny and 67. So, I would say we are definitely on.
Clement Park. Time tbd due to temperature. Most likely we will run a staggered start Final results will be posted by Wednesday night. Track(s) were laid today. Note Demelza’s map. It appears we will meet at the parking lot of Columbine High school, which is adjacent to the park.
tangent alert:
On a side note; the Columbine Memorial was just recently completed. It looks like it was dedicated to the public last September. I think after we track, I will take a visit up the hill. Just something to keep in mind, as I think it has become a part of who we are as Coloradans. Info on the memorial here.
I think we can all imagine if this is something you would want to avoid. I remember that day as vividly as the events of 09/11. Hopefully, for me, visiting the memorial will be a piece of closure.

training for this Sunday > 4.28.2008
We are meeting at Kent middle school. Map below \/ For the rest, I’ll leave it to Susan:
Kent Denver Country Day School—4800 E Quincy Avenue ( between University and Colorado) Entrance on south side of Quincy. Drive through Main Entrance and up to school. Continue on One Way past front of school. At the end of the parking lot, continue between small wooden posts on paved road along side building, down the hill, though a small parking lot to a larger parking lot between two fields and ponds. Park and wait for instructions to begin track.
Or, until I can figure out how to do graphics on this pesky Mac… click on this link… and plug in these co-ordinates. I reckon’ we are shooting for a 10:30 am start (per the usual). If that changes, I’ll post it here.

04.20.2008 > sunday evening recap
It was a successful, though extremely windy, day. Every hound who partipated was able to track me via a 6 day old foot track, which somehow survived the last two days of 40 mph winds in the park. What was interesting is that no one dog or handler followed my trail exactly. In fact, the four dogs all took four different routes to get to me.
We have a location already seleted for next week. the track has already been laid. i will have more details sometime this week. thanks everyone, and see you again Sunday!

Training for this Sunday, April 20th, is set in Parker at 10:30 am. Weather looks to be approximately 65 degrees… a perfect day! The park has varied terrain: cement sidewalks, dirt paths, cherry creek river, a sand play area, and a porta potty too!
Here is an overhead shot of the park from google maps. You can also find this park by plugging in my address (16926 Dandelion Way, Parker, CO) and zoom out to see the park about two blocks north east of the house. It’s huge! I have laid track there this afternoon (Monday). I also have an ‘escape’ plan for today and Sunday so I don’t double over or contaminate my track. Note, the track should not take you into neighborhoods, or through water. You may go over water (using bridges) and near neighborhoods… but you should always be on park grounds.
I won’t tell you where I went (that is what your hound is for), but I can tell you basically a did a large loop. this means you can break right or left from the scent article heading out and still get to me.
* bonus silliness, inspired by last weekend’s lost debit card. Along one of the tracks laid, there is a bonus catch. Somewhere on your journey, there may be a business card from Medved auto. If your hound finds it, grab it and bring it along. If not, I will pick it up after we meet (so as not to litter).
As for getting to Parker, you can also plug this info into any of your GPS or Google map apps: N 39.56139 W 104.78837
from the North > I-25 south to Lincoln. Left at Lincoln… follow Lincoln down to Jordan (approx 5 miles) and take a left at Jordan (a stop light). Take a right at Cottonwood (also a light). This is where is gets squirrelly. Take your first left, which is Apache Plume. Follow this down and around until you see a split rail fence and a dirt road on your right. That is the entrance to the park.
from the West > take C470 to Jordan. This involves a toll of (i think) $2. To avoid the toll, bootleg down to Lincoln at I-25. Take a left at Jordan (no matter which way you come). Take a right at Cottonwood (also a light). This is where is gets squirrelly. Take your first left, which is Apache Plume. Follow this down and around until you see a split rail fence and a dirt road on your right (maybe half a mile?). That is the entrance to the park.
* if you get lost or delayed, call me. I will have my phone on my the whole time (even when hiding from the hounds) 303.901.5235.

Hi Kevin:)
I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting you and your dog yet. Work has had me tied up for the past few months.
I just want to thank you for this wonderful web page! I am disappointed Pele and I won’t be out there Sunday to grab that business card on the way to our “target”
:)
I will look forward to future tracks this summer!
Pele and I were Pat’s first students 4 years ago so this beautiful and user protected website means so much to me:)
